"Bioidentical" is actually more of a buzzword than a specific category of treatment... it essentially means it's what your body can utilize as hormones and some people refer to OTC creams with Progesterone (which can be made in a lab or found in some forms in nature) as being "Bioidentical" while others just refer to the products created by prescription in a compound pharmacy. The Progesterone creams are much cheaper (usually $10-20 for a jar that can last several weeks depending on how much you use it) and some find them almost as effective as the pharmacy ones but that will vary person to person. Unfortunately, because of different body chemistries out there, some will get a better response from one or the other, but I prefer to try the cheaper option first to see if it would suffice and save myself the money... if that doesn't work, it's not much out of pocket to give it a try either. ;-) If you wanted to be absolutely sure which would work better for you, you can try both assuming your doctor approves of the prescription, but many menopausal women swear by one or the other. Good luck and I hope I helped!
