Is the Centre serious about checking Maoist / naxal menace across the country?

The anti terror squad and National Security teams visit spots after a terror attack and the PM gives a statement of 'zero tolerance' to terrorism, sympathy to victims and the HM calls on the States to take economic measures in the area to check maoist spread and keep close watch on the bullies.. etc! The Defense minister would say 'military won't be used against terror folk' and the print media would carry articles from ex police chiefs or investigation chiefs, while the electronic media would interview some dignitaries /.party leaders / Activists to fill their programmes with 'latest' spice of thrill!

We don't seem to see any serious and radical step from the Centre or the State govts, going by the repeat of attacks and losses of precious lives of security men, public and some times a few leaders! What is your feeling or view about this menace and the way it is 'addressed' by the Govts?

Update:

Tilak I enjoyed your mild satire! With a weak opposition divided amidst itself, a despondent intelligentsia that is satisfied with passing criticisms sans any effort to bring pressure on the rulers, the poor majority who have no time to look into the pathology of corruption and maladministration weakening the nation.. coupled with unsatiated greed as hinted by Master Mind.. have all made the ruling group insensitive to the crying needs for security and clean administration.

thanks Master Mind for your visit. Your views are absolutely true. Future lies in the hands of wise and bold youth like you

The government response has been tardy, to say the least. Naxalism is a slow venom which would engulf the entire country in its fold if not checked properly on time. In 2008, the PM issued a stern warning about the Naxal attack. The then Home Minister made bullish claims about curbing Naxalism and a new plan against the Naxals but to no avail. The situation stays more or less the same. The ideological vacuum, lack of will and a desire for personal fulfillment over social welfare has led to an ossified system, unwilling to change or take decisive steps to counter problems like Maoism/fundamentalism/terrorism etc.

I have elaborated on the topic in my blog post : On the Red Menace: A Simple Analysis.

The only menace in India is the corrupt government that has lead to the rise of terrorist cells. Intelligent Indians leave India and the idiots remain behind on this sinking ship. The country is filthy, corrupt, filled with idiotic muslims, hindus and christians who know nothing of philospohy but to do idiotic rituals every day. Politicians consult aastrologers to make political decisions. India deserves to BURN.

yes they are as much serious about checking Maoism as much they are on elimininating corruption , dynastic rule , bring political parties under information Act .

They are keen to set up some superfluous institution to provide employment to friends of Govt like coal regulator or electricity regulators

Big O is right .... Politicians are creators of Terrorists ... see movie 'Pan Singh Tomar'. The politicians are Legal terrorists !

The basic has to be dealt with .... many NGO are already there helping those who have been oppressed ..... Govt. must be with them. They are with the Corrupt so they are destined to be killed, but only poor police, soldiers and citizen get killed !
