Did you read the criticism of the Food Security Bill / ordinance rushed by Govt of India? What is your take..?

on Govt argument and the criticisms of the opposition / Activists / non political experts?

Update:

Moon, what you said is the general perception of people at large. We have seen already how the Right to Education is being bungled across the nation! Right to livelihood is a global mandate of great financial and executive magnitude and needs to be addressed with much sincerity and care unlike how the Central rulers are doing now! The reason for our laws remaining in paper is just this apparent laxity in making laws for the sake of electoral gains rather than serve national interests. Officials know what the Govt just wants and would not be serious about the implementation. The wastage and shoddy implementation of Mahathama Gandhi Rural employment guarantee scheme with massive outlays is an issue in point.

PM does not know what happens in the Space dept under his direct control. He doesn't know what Raja or Dayanidhi does but rushes to Gujarath and Bihar during elections to say that the State rulers are corrupt (he know everything other than what happens in his own Govt!) With suc

Update 2:

RKg sir, thanks for visiting this Q. It's not just the UPA / INC who have ruled for long without delivering their promised prosperity and equity across layers of citizens! The marxists ruled Bengal and Kerala for decades, so did the dravidian parties in Tamilnadu... no body did any miracle except making things worse for people over time.

Ethics in public life had eroded long ago. Mr Sezhian former MP wrote a nice article outlining this bane of the country. In Nehru's time his own son in law Mr Feroze Gandi had the conscience to raise issues of impropriety in his own (congress) party - like against then Minister TTK - while now the govt wishes to bury all scams by the elties close to the party chiefs!

Yes the way ordinance is r esorted when the parliament is in session, speaks of the unholy motives of the Govt. They do not want to remove the flaws pointed out by opposition and Activists for known reasons. They want laws with flaws only, any perfect law would demand perfect e

Update 3:

Brahmanand thanks for listing the criticisms and their veracity in the present context. But rulers know that common people could be fooled easily. In fact what Vijay D wishfully says could happen for the country. He would be happy that his friends are in power making impotent laws that speak eloquently and deliver nothing but scams! LOL!

Food security bill is good scheme as it helps many poor families. Food security introduced by Govt soon before elections is making it sensational. Here I would like to criticize govt and opposition both. Govt. supposed to bring it before many of many years or else it could had made more and more facilities for food preservation. Govt is using it as vote puller scheme. Its not fair to introduce such schemes only for vote purpose because we did not find any such big schemes in 5 years apart from all scams and inflation.

Opposition should be criticized because they need to support such bills rather than opposing and giving statements against it. Opposition BJP should be proud of its implementation in MP soon before central govt. introduce it.

the government has acted like mohammad bin Tuglaque shifting his capital to devagiri and back. The provisions required for proper implemantation of the bill have not been made The town and villages have no storage facility. There is no machinery for distribution.Corruption is again likel;y to take over the system and we will be back in square one as far as food situation is cioncerned.neither Sonia nor Manmohan singh are speaking so it is only agimmik to get votes in the next election and nothing more.

Food security bill or no food security bill, it is in the interests of the nation that Congress comes to power again and again at the center. Govt. has to rush the bill, because they have to fulfill their election manifesto promises. There should not be any delay where the future of poor people is concerned.

However, it is in the interests of Gujaratis that Modi bhai keeps coming to power in Gujarat again and again.

Well if even after six decades of development out of which abt 50 yrs account for one party alone spanning three or four generations, to be more precise, of just one Family if we must have subsidy dolls like Mnrega & FSB there is need to sit back & think.

Realities are contradictory to perceptions & intently on purpose, like...

#Rate of economic Growth & Rate of Poverty Growth? Where have they reached in last six decades & where do you want dem another 10 to 20 yrs in future wrt the growth in the world around?

#Track record of central subsidies really trickling down to those they are meant for?.......

Ex PM Rajeev Gandhi (who happens to be late husband of Cong President & Father of Vice-President Sh Rahul Gandhi who is also being projected as PM elect 2014), is on record valuing real delivery to be around 17paise, that must have been reduced in reverse proportion to Growth in Corruption.

So what are we doing: creating new venues for Pillage ? or are we trying to stem horrenduous growth in Poverty over the years? and is that the right way to mitigate hunger & poverty?

Definitely NO, Health care, Educational facilities, Vocational Training, & most important creating new Jobs besides of course, equally important basic infrastructure growth in areas like *Irrigation *Power *Roads *Constant dedicated Research on day to day planning on matters like Imports & fresh investments from across the Globe are the areas we need to work on.

And... And without any big, ulterior political target or purpose.

Are we moving into politics cultivating a VOTE-BANK out of poverty by doling out Alms like this??

An ordinance is superfluous when parliament could have a special session.Politicians make hay while people suffer . UPA does not consist of saints
