I am a Sr.Citizen aged 66 years. From 2009, I am an insurance agent and the company has been deducting TDS.?
Based on my income, I don't come under the taxable bracket. How do I get the tax refund? Should I file returns from 2009, and then claim refund? What is the procedure to be followed?

Insurance companies are required to debit TDS on the commission payment they make. You can file your returns and you will be eligible for refund of the tax deducted. you can file your returns directly on www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in or if you are not sure of how to file online, you can approach your local auditor for help. You may require to file ITR-IV as you earn income by way of commission / brokerage. You can file returns for previous years too.

Yes, you can file return and ask for TDS refund. You need to show your income as under taxable and that TDS has been deducted. Then, specify your bank account details.
If you have taken insurance policy, then calculate the annual premium of all policies and add to Section 80C. You can also add PPF account, 5 year FD's, etc. up to max 100000/-
