Will he ever talk to me again?

I have been friends with this guy since we were both about 7. We lost touch for a few years and found each other again in college. recently, I not only had surgery to remove some of my girl parts, but have been dealing with family issues of them disowning me (worse than they already have) for needing the surgery.

Recently, he said "I've never stopped having feelings for you, there, I said it" and I can only guess he means the elementary school crush he had when we met. He knows about all the stuff going on, but he said he wants me gone for a while and I have no idea what I did wrong. I'm trying to completely ignore him and allow this to take it's time, but I'm worried that something as permanent as reproductive organs getting removed is going to be just as permanent as this.

Does he hate me for getting the surgery too? How long should I wait until I give up hope. It's been a month without pestering, but I worry I'll get disowned by him too if this goes on.

Update:

It's not that I'm changing my sex, I'm just getting fixed due to problems. It's unavoidable and costly as well as needing 10 years worth of hormonal replacements and starting menopause when it's done. I'd assume the menopause would be the most devastating to a guy and the fact a risk of children isn't going to be possible soon would be a huge turn-on for guys but maybe that's not the case.

this might seem mean and cruel, but having a crush more or less on a girl for quite awhile then finding out she is becoming a he, is propably really creepy for the guy and as it is not a regular occurance one does not ever think about how to react or feel.
