Double Barrel first names? Opinions and Ideas?

I enjoy names; you can probably call me a collector of names and my opinions constantly change. Among all of the research I do when finding names, I come across and learn about the latest naming trends. I just came across something that I haven't seen in awhile or considered in awhile and that's double barrel first names.

I get there are some very "hick" combinations out there (i.e. Billy Bob, Daisy Jo, Mary Lou, Sue Ann, etc). I also think some people think they're trashy anyway despite the name choice because they don't know what name to use.

To me, if you don't choose incredibly long names you can pull off a double barrel name. I also think that it's obvious the double barrel name was given so you use both names, not one or the other, and that you really can't be that confused about it. If that person chooses to go just by one, they'll let you know, you're not the one that chooses. I'm not necessarily one to go out and make plans for a double barrel name for any future children; I'd go for two middle names before I go for a double barrel first name.

The most popular names have changed and so I wonder what names make for cute double barrel names. So feel free to leave your opinions on double barrel names and some of your ideas of double barrel names. Include some of your favorite "classic" ones too (i.e. Mary Ellen, Mary (etc), John Paul, John (etc), Rosa Lee or Rose Marie, etc).

Thanks for answering!

Update:

I actually read another question on Y!A where a responder said they think the parents are actually less intelligent for not being able to choose between names and therefore just giving them two first names. I couldn't believe what I had read. Less intelligent? What if they chose the names to honor two family members? Or in the memory of those they loved? Who cares if they chose two names, if the names are n't borderline child abuse, who cares. It's not your kid. I think somebody who has that kind of opinion is less intelligent.

Double - Barrel: i'm okay with it so long as it's lovely. I might select barreling two less anticipated names, meaning no Rose, Ann, Lou, Lynn, Marie, Mae, Kate, Lily and so forth. Two core names: it can be what I do with my possess names record, so obviously I love it.

I've never heard the term "double barrel" names so thank you for the insight. Anyway my favorite of those sorts of names has to be Rosa Lee....a lot of names sound nice with Lee.
