Which Nikkor zoom lens would be better for Nikon D3000 ?

My friend has Nikon D3000 and he is confused between two lenses:

1. AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED

2. AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR.

Which one is better ?

Is it worth to spend more to buy the second one or the first one would be sufficient ?

The difference is in the zoom range. The second one can zoom a bit farther in.

Here you can compare the focal length ranges of these cameras:

Note that the 55-200mm lens also is available in a version without VR. Stay away from that one, VR is very important.
