Need help with Xbox 360?

Hi, i want to purchase an XBOX 360, but i've been thinking whether i should get the 4GB or the 250GB model, i will be using it only for playing games, no movies or music etc., and i also want to know if i have to install the games that i buy or, if i can just insert the DVD disc to play the game, If its just putting in the DVD and playing the game, then why do i need more memory ?? Pls Help.

Update:

Also, are separate Hard Disks sold for the Xbox 360, so that i can get the 4GB model, and get a 60 or 80 GB Hard Disk.

The disk drive makes a lot of noise when its reading off the disk, most of the games when you install them onto the drive take up around 5 GB of space so if you install the game on the hard drive the drive will not spin the disk making the 360 make less noise and the laser will also last longer.

you can play games straight off the disk but that way the drive will make a lot of noise and the laser may get weak very quick.

I always install the games onto hard drive before playing and I have had my 360 for 2 years now and its working fine.

I should have asked this before I bought the 250GB one.

You can just put the disc in or put it on your hard drive AND use the disc. I don't download anything and I stick to the same few games most of the time and a fair amount of memory has already been used. I don't know how.

The 4GB is cheaper, so you could always get that and get more memory if you need it.

The games are played right from the dvd and you don't need to install or save them in the hard disk. The hard disk is used just to store the movies, mp3, pictures etc.

If your only gonna use it for games then just the 4gb one is for u no you don't have to install the game to play all u need is the disc just buy the 4gb for now and if in the future you decide you need more mem you could just buy a bigger HDD later hope this helps
