Anna Hazara 73y sits on fast while his young supporters enjoy mid-day meal is it fair?

Please check this video clip that I had recorded on 08.04.2011, when I visited Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in support of Anna Hazara for his cause for fight against corruption and what all I saw made be ashamed, as this old man for us sit on fast the supporters gathered there enjoying mid-day meals!

http://youtu.be/XuJQ2_LmtjQ

Update:

I had myself kept one day token fast in his support and had gone to Jantar Matar for supporting his cause, so need not teach me what to do, what I state here is double standard of his supporters only.

Update 2:

Doc. Narian your are right this what I wanted to say here and convey my objection for all this by few of the supporters.

Update 3:

Support to such noble cause should be letter and spirit, it should be coming from heart, not just people collecting around in thousands to enjoy if they are there enjoying some kind of party get together.

Update 4:

I do not say every one supporting this noble cause has to go on fast, at least give respect to the old man who sit on fast and what these few are doing is enjoying mid-day meal just in front of this man's view as if they are teasing him and telling him, "old guy go ahead with your fast, we are with you but let us enjoy our mid-day meal" is this not mean on their part?

I could not see your link of u-tube because I have dialup. I guess I just don't get why people fast. To me fasting is a personal thing. Maybe it's just my culture but I don't understand how fasting would influence anyone to do anything at all. Whether "fair" existed before or not (in anything) is unbeknownst to me but I'm beginning to think in society that there is no such word as "fair". What's fair for one person isn't fair for another and that's just the way it is. Even the word "equality" doesn't mean equal. Maybe we need some new words to express how we as humans feel about something.

To combat corruption the answer seems to be to remove the corrupt person since what they do has either been ingrained, or at least the seed was set then as a child from their parents, or they became corrupt because of the people around them, but none can leave corruption on their own because it's an addiction. In addictions people stay away but always come back to their habit..

There is no time for the discussions. We have to do something solid against the corruption. I have decided. I just need people like you.

Sir, I am planning to start an organization against the corruption and corrupt people, whoever is breaking the rules or going through bypass. This organization will file the cases against them. It can be any department, People or Government Sector or Private sector.

At present I am earning for it so I can establishment my organization/company.

Everyone is aware of that; every single thing in the market is not up to the mark like food, equipments anything else. About the Govt. department people, they don’t know how to speak with someone. I think they forgot the Oath.

“Barbad Gulistan Karne Ko Bas Ek Hi Oollu (Owl) Kafi Tha

Us Hal Gulistan Kya Hoga Jab Har Daal Per Oollu Baitha Hai”

    Owl means corrupt people.

I could not see the video. Anyway, your point can be answered in these words. Thousands of people in India are supporting the movement of Anna Hazare but they all are not on fast. It does not mean all the persons who are not on fast are pretenders. However, you are correct that some so-called supporters of Anna Hazare are staining the movement. I have even seen some of his supporters are involved in blackmailing the corrupt bureaucrats by referring the name of Anna Hazare. Undoubtedly, those supporters are selfish, pretenders or even culprits. If any supporters defend the act of corruption, certainly, it would be double standard of that supporters but only because some supporters were taking meals, we cannot say that they are applying double standard because Anna Hazare has decided to go on fast, other supporters have not made such declaration. Even when Mahatma Gandhi used to go on fast, every his supporters were not fully following him. Of course, the supporters who are taking active role in the movement and trying to get publicity should show some manners and should avoid taking meals at public place.

Please don't see it otherwise. Anna Harare is a big movement in itself for a genuine cause.

He has taken the Gandhian path of getting his noble demands met from the Government , which are for the benefit of the Nation and its common people like you and me.

It depends on us to support him or not. But this is the need of the hour to support him and stand by his side , if we love our country. He has never asked anybody to keep fast with him. It is all mandatory on the part of his supporters. More important to stand by his side. To express our solidarity.

I have been to Jantar Mantar for Two days, and I will go there till this movement continues. I have not kept fast.

Please do not make it a controversial issue. Support the cause.

Mr Vijay I much appreciate your sentiment as aptly seconded by Doc Narain also! It is not proper to eat near the Fasting venue for anyone, much more for 'supporters'!

But I would also like to see from another weird angle! Just as Prof Radhakrishnan would say, " don't blame that the beautiful Rose is thorny; rather rejoice that there is beauty and fragrance even among thorny plants!", even so shall we feel happy that the modern youth are coming to the venue of Sathyagraha, rather than blaming that they fail to observe the etiquette!

Sir, our youth lack direction. The education is secular, the teachers are commercial, parents busy earning, leaders are steeped in double standards, still they appreciate the worth of the Sathyagraha! They do forego food under the stress of exams or job interviews, but do not know social etiquettes. There are no role models fit to emulate, for them. Don't take them seriously, for the petty mistakes; don't blame them. Rather blame the institutions / parents and 'leaders' who had failed to refine them!

They are excited that an old Activist is taking up a bold movement. And may be they rejoice by eating, the only thing they know to express joy! Simpletons!

Hello dear Vijay. This campaign had been started by the social activist - Ana Hazare - and everybody was focusing on him only. He is the only person, who announced for the Fast. Therefore, it is he

who was topmost important as far as fast is concerned. Even if others - young and old supporters - had gone for fast, the importance of such fast was negligible because the focus was only on Ana. In any developed economy or developing economy as well, young people are becoming more and more self

focused, giving less attention to others. They are more concerned with their education, health, day-to-day life and so on. If such people, participated in Ana's campaign, their motto was not to go on fast but to

support Ana emotionally and from other necessary angles to get a desired result. Ana is highly experienced Activist and such things he must have seen in the past in which others are just sitting in front of him, eating, singing, and what not but still getting their full support. Therefore, if these people were eating in front of Ana, being on fast, its quite okay with hem because many had come from other places, cities, towns, etc. and must be hungry and tired and in such circumstances, eating in front of Ana, seems not disrespectful, which Ana himself must be understanding very well. Today's youth is changing very fast

because if a country develops, people change accordingly and same thing has already happened in western countries and same is also happening in other developing economies and if its happening in India, its not any surprise. This I am telling here with full confidence keeping in view my travelling to several countries by staying their long time and thus very well familiar with their culture and day-to-day life.

Whether people are there to support for noble cause or for just fun, one can easily guess by going there

and what will be real aftermath of this campaign, only time will be witness. Frankly, once the Lokpal bill is finally drafted and passed, Ana needs to face very hard time ahead because even if action is taken against culprits but still the final say is in the judicial jurisdiction. In this kind of campaign, one can see very easily the authentic people and opportunists as well and if these opportunists are not favored in one or the other way now, there is a question mark for their support in similar future campaigns. Long live Great Ana and Long Live India.

    dear sir,

I understand it pains to see that people are enjoying meals rite in front of the great leader who is on fast.

But then its all in the intentions that you are working with ultimately counts at the end of the day,

You should appreciate that the very people whom you felt were insulting their leader, may not be having any such intentions of insulting their leader. Well, I personally feel it is the level of maturity that counts. The supporters who you feel are enjoying in front of their leader is not the correct way of looking at the things. After all they are like the very loved children of the very leader in question. The leader is a fatherly figure and the suppprters ( who take meals) are the children of this father. Infact we all should consider him as our father. So the children may show some immaturity at times by eating meals just to satisfy their basic needs of food but that in no way gives us the liberty to conclude that these children are making fun of their father who is on fast. Think positively : the supporters have the same agenda as their father and their intentions are pure at heart. THis is how I look at. and also would be happy if all look at the supposrting children with a caring, loving and supporting look. After all they are they children of this grand leader who is on his path to bring about revolutionary change for India.

So I wish to conclude that "Be Happy and look at the positive side of the coin".
