Which is the best shampoo and conditioner for shiny and silky hair?

I have naturally straight hair which is pretty thick. Most oily hair products are for 'fine, limp hair'. My scalp isn't that greasy but it gets oily about 2 days after shampooing. However, the tips of my hair are dry. Due to pretty harsh shampoos in the past, my hair suffers from a lot of breakage. My hairs pretty smooth but it lacks that shine which most people have. Which shampoo or conditioner do you recommend to get that silkiness without the grease that follows?

Update:

P.S. i never use any heat tools, to the point that i never ever even blow dry my hair.

When your hair is normal, and clean it becomes shiny & silky. Shiny also comes from your good genes, (dad's side of the family - none from my mom's side) and from al the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature. Dry tips are NOT from harsh shampoos, sorry to say, but from chemicals and heating styling tools. and from sunburned in the past. They need to be completely cut-off before they too can become normal.

When you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product don’t actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain… along with all the money you spent on the shampoo. Like eating mushrooms, there are good and bad mushrooms.

It is HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

    Causes for greasy hair:

You're using the wrong shampoo. Many are formulated for damaged, curly hair. I'd take them back.

You're having conditioner buildup. Many don't even need conditioner. I don't.

You're using oil on your hair, to protect your hair from straightening/curling tools.

You're eating too many oily foods.

    You're shampooing frequently.

You're using too many hair products: gel, mousse, you're not letting your hair breath.

You're going to bed with damp hair.

Your liquid make up or moisturizer can evaporate and touches your hair. Rinse your face well before going to bed.

After shampooing, use two towels (long hair) to absorb most of the water from your hair. Blow-dry only for 5 mins. concentrate on the roots, before going to bed, if you're shampooing before bed.

Find the cause then eliminate them.

Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - the website had moved, type it in. Two others also:

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tempered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

    Sources:

I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's. When I was in HS, my hair grew from bob to waist length in 3 1/2 to 4 years, and cut 2x a year.

I have the same type of hair and I use treseme. It seriously tops all those answers above. Plus treseme doesnt test on animals and idk if u care about that but its a serious issue and by supporting pantene and head and shoulders(anything proctor&gamble mainly but there are others out there) you are supporting the fact that animals are getting sliced open and no anestesia so that they can test these chemicals in the shampoo so you wont have a reaction. So hope I helped! Byezz

You need a trim on the ends and it can only be an inch. Pantene works well and get the glossy sleek one. My Asian friends like that one and not expensive. Only 6 bucks for a bottle. get the shampoo and conditioner and your hair will be beautiful.

Source(s): I am a cosmetologist of over 30 years and in espensive products work well.

Love, shine is the last thing you want. Shine is created by an unnatural build up of silicone in your hair, which after time causes your hair to become greasy, if you want to think of it this way...the shampoo can't clean out the pores in your hair if they're coated in plastic.

I live and dye (see the joke I made there, I'm cool hah) by Tresseme, it is the Best product on the market for your hair, within 6 weeks of using it, your hair will be healthier than it's ever been.
