speedometer...........?

hello there,in a vehicle we have a speedometer to know the speed we are traveling.let say a car is traveling at 80 mph.is that mean,that the car can reach a place 80 miles in a hour??

    Yes ! But you need to keep your speed for an hour. If you slowed down or accelerated, that will be inaccurate, maybe 75 or 85 miles.

    I also need to tell you, all speed meter on vehicles (motorcycles,cars,trucks,etc...) are not quite precise. They may have an error range within 5%~10%. That's a precaution for speeding, if you exceed the speed rate showed on the penal, you probably drive under the speed rate.

    (Just in case if you didn't mind to your speed meter on highway. You may get little traffic ticket.)

    A speedometer shows the speed the vehicle is being operated at ... how far it will go at the present indicated speed in one hour, not if you will get from point "a" to point "b", 80 miles away in one hour.

    This question should be asked in elementary math. Yes, if you travel at 80 miles per hour, you will cover 80 miles in one hour.

    Yes, but only if you travel at exactly 80mph for a full hour. If you slow down at any time it will take longer.

    I was led to believe that all speedos are out a little bit (about 10% apparently), so it will take longer.
