What is your view on the Sports Minister's statement about CWG scams?

This Sports Minister was one person in the government on whom I had some hopes of fair play when

he took on the might of the IOA Chairman,Kalmadi by tabling a bill restricting the tenure of CEOs of the various sports bodies in the country to 12 years.But alas,he capitulated when the wily Kalmadi instigated the IOC to threaten the government with sanctions,instead of calling that body's bluff.The government should have had the gumption to file suit against the IOC in the International Court at the Hague.It is therefore no wonder that the Minister,instead of initiating the probe himself and calling for all financial details from the OC of the CWG as well as questioning the OC about the

sponsorship and other issues where arbitrary decisions have been taken without going through the bid process,had to be prodded into waking from his deep slumber.And now in his stuporous state he

issues some wishy-washy statements like taking "prompt and appropriate action".It is a well known

fact as to what sort of action the government will take once the clamor dies down.To cite a parallel,

you might have read the news item in the dailies about the framing of corruption and other charges against the Chief Justice Designate of the HC of Sikkim.The former CJ of the SC who had ordered the Survey of India to report on one aspect of the charges viz.the encroachment on Government land,did not bother to publish the SoI's report,leave alone respect the wishes of the lawyers of Karnataka and Sikkim for not assigning any judicial duties to that Hon.Justice.It wouldn't surprise me if the proposed impeachment proceedings against the CJ designate come a cropper and that

worthy stands exonerated of all charges as was the case in the matter of Justice Ramaswami.You may be well aware that a former PM is record for having remarked that "Corruption is a way of life in India".With such attitude prevailing even among the highest echelons of the government,do you seriously believe that an issue like the corruption in the conduct of the CWG would ever be exposed?

Also,the Congress being the leader of the coalition at the center,will only highlight the misdemeanors of governments headed by other political parties while overlooking the misdeeds and shenanigans of their own governments in states ruled by them.Except for venting our frustrations in these and other such forums,we can do damn all in the matter.Have a Great Day though what we are discussing is depressing.Let this not get us down.We certainly have other more important personal issues to worry about.

Edit:-I am sure you must have read today's report where it is indicated that the Indian High Commission avers that it did not recommend the AM car firm.Kalmadi now caught in some jam produces some Raju or Kaju"s letters where this unknown person is purported to have given the thumbs up for the firm.

This Raju probably has no authority to do what he did and in any case Kalmadi had no business accepting some Johnny's

recommendation without verifying his antecedents.Who knows he may have agreed to share the booty with Raju.Anyway the fur is beginning to fly.Let us wait and watch who goes for whose throat and who is going to end up being choked to death,politically I mean.

Cwg Scams

Students do not fear a timid master. PM had been silent on major scams in the Ministries of Baalu, Raja, Pawar etc and had forfeited the right to question any colleague. Further he had submitted completely to the dictates of a party chief, who does not hesitate to influence every major - not just political issues that is in her domain but - administrative matters, mainly involving manipulative tactics to support deviants and suppress opponents, etc.

It is too naive to think that Dr M is any more sensitive to this sort of gross breaches of integrity - in shirking his role as the team leader - that has been revealed frequently in abundant measure! To continue to look at his past merits and sympathise with his present undoings from a key post is, to say the least, self deceiving!!

When I just submitted my response, I saw Raj Krish's usual eloquent, fair and critical review of the situation. That says it poondi. Nobody else can put it better!

It is shameless politics and absolute corruption .Congress is a known corrupt party .So nothing better can be expected from that party.
