I don't recommend homeopathic remedies. Homeopathy asserts that the more diluted with water the active constituent is; the more potent it becomes. It's utter nonsense! When homeopathy works, it's by using the placebo response, like giving someone a sugar, or inert pill, and they feel better. Primitive shamans (witch doctors) got their results the same way.

I also don't recommend any of the powerful, and addictive central nervous system stimulants. An increased incidence of abuse of cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, and other amphetamines has been reported among users of Ritalin, and other amphetamine related medications, which may well predispose them to later abuse street drugs, with all the undesirable consequences involved. The only medication for it not in the stimulant family that I know of is Strattera, which is structurally related to the antidepressants, and carries risks, and side effects of its own; see www.drugs.com. People in most Western countries often get several times more Omega 6, than Omega 3, when a far healthier ratio is 1:1 and that deficiency is thought to be a major factor in ADD/ADHD. Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or its FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. Eat more in accordance with your "nutritional type":- ( 20 question quiz http://www.naturalhealthcoach.com/tools ) or at http://www.mercola.com/ and also enter "krill oil", & "ADHD" in their searchbar. Eliminate, or minimise sugar use, replacing with xylitol, or stevia (health food stores).

Avoid artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners, preservatives, & MSG. Minimise highly processed grains, & alcohol use. Books: "The A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. Diet! If you can't get it those ways, you can also try Bookbound.com.au Hypnotism is merely a heightened state of suggestibility, in which communication with your subconscious mind is facilitated. 85% of people are suggestible, to some degree, so you could either seek professional hypnotherapy, or more alternatives along such lines are at: http://your-mental-health.8m.com/blank_9.html on the webpage about the subject; this only contains a few short extracts.

Source(s): He may be suffering from depression, anxiety, or a behavioural disorder, but it takes a professional to diagnose them, although quizzes are shown. Depression; see pages 3, and b, at 8m.com. Anxiety; pages 1, and i. I don't know enough about ayurvedic medicine to comment, except that sometimes it works, sometimes not; more research is needed.

non of the articles I have read comment on how long it takes but speak to the issue of effectiveness. "Sabal Serrulata effective in prostate cancer" Medline Feb 07 basic research items, boring to most, because experiments done on rats, etc. Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Journal back in '94 showed homeopathic medicine can influence the growth and development of invertebrates European Journal of Pharmacology , April '87 ...homeopathic medicine "induced a statistically significant increase in the immune function, as measured in macrophages in the blood of mice" Basic research is expensive and the study of homeopathic medicines does not yield a product which can be patented, so no money is to be made in demonstrating the effectiveness. A medical journal..Rheumatology 20046; 43 (5) 577-82 (should you care to look it up) showed "Improved clinical status in fibromyalgia patients treated with individualized homeopathic remedies verses placebo". If you are unaccustomed to reading medical journals all the articles end with a disclaimer that "these results are preliminary and more research is needed in this area" The discussions re: Homeopathy in YA has motivated me to locate a practitioner in my area in order to gain first hand experience.
