Are you paying the whole price of the processors to your friend? Or will he give you some discount?
If he charges the retail price for these processors then don't buy.
I would go with the Core2Duo as its has more cache memory and internal bus width. Its a completely different architecture. The Dual Core is just two Pentium 4 processors in one.
But 2.0GHz is really less. Atleast go for something above 2.6GHz
So if he gives good discount then get the Core2Duo. And if he charges the full price, then don't get it from him. Better buy the AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core processor. It would cost lesser than the Core2Duo, and you will get a full fledged Quad Core processor for future proof gaming.
And also check out the new Core i3 Dual Core processors. They are much better old Core2Duo.

Both are similar in basic design. Two physical processor cores in a single die. The Dual Core is the older design, and the C2D is the more recent version. C2D also supports faster motherboards and newer system architecture.
Get the C2D processor.

wait for sometime.I have read that intel is going to launch CPU+GPU chip.In the magazine it says
"Intel"s Westmere CPU will become the first mainstream CPU+GPU chip.Quad cores will become more popular, while new 6 and 8-core models will take over the top end."
