Should "No Best Answer" option for voting be removed?

Should "No Best Answer" option for voting be removed? ... because this option is being misused by some members.

The following ids the description given with "No best Answer" option:

None of these answers doing it for you?

Sometimes none of the answers get it just right. If so, pick "No Best Answer". Voters DO NOT get any points for voting on the No Best Answer.

Update:

Hello friends,

What...? if there is only one genuine answer and one of our friends votes "No best Answer"...! and eventually the genuine answer is rendered condemned...

Didn't you experienced in your own case...?

Update 2:

Hello Maitree,

You have exactly got what I intended to say via this question (even by by losing 5 points). Yet, it has not been taken in the right perspective by honorable members.

Some of the users are school boys and girls and yahoo needs to devise a deterrent to stop the innocent naughty activities of the adolescents.

Users...

Please offer your suggestions as to how the genuine answers like Maitree's could be rescued out of condemnation threats from indiscriminate assaults.

i agree with you that it is being misused but what shd be done in the case that there is one or two non-sense answer and really no meaningful answer? The asker then shd have a right to lodge his protest this way.

    EDIT:

Harish, it happened in my case many a time. My answer (actually the only answer and very sincerely written) got a vote from the asker. But someone maliciously voted for no best answer option. And the question goes to tie breaker until I notice it and vote for myself to resolve. .And it is very sad that such malice exists.

And yet if you see it from the askers' point of view you hv to admit that there is a need for No Best Answer option. Some users often give answers like idk or make fun of the asker. If No Best Answer option is availble at least the asker will be able to express his opinion. Otherwise these insincere answerers will vote for themselves and get 10 points.

It is bad for Yahoo also as nonsense answers appearing as Best Answer in resolved questions section undermines the quality of Yahoo Answers.

a million.choose ideal answer or, go away it to vote casting, why? choose ideal answer, it feels large to finalise a question. 2.Are you a "thumb higher" or a "thumb downer"? both 3.Do you do your Q&A for the day in a unmarried consultation or do you come back decrease back in durations via out the day? durations 4.have you ever had a contravention? what number? nope, not in any respect 5.have you ever been suspended. what number cases? not in any respect 6. have you ever said someone, if so why? sure, once because they were rude. pass this very last one in case you hate Harry Potter 7. even as asking a Hp appropriate question do you position it in Books & Authors or Polls& Surveys? not in any respect ask Harry Potter questions.

I do a lot of voting on undecided questions and I disagree that the No Best Answer should be removed. I have seen answers to questions 'idk', 'who cares', also rude comments, this has not answered the question it is just someone wanting 2 points, so I would vote no best answer to the question.

If the askers of the questions choose their own best answers there would not be a backlog of questions that needed to be resolved, and no debate about no best answer option. You do not get any points for choosing no best answer but 1 vote is deducted from your daily quota of votes.

Sometimes you have to make a decision about the answers, perhaps one of the answers is correct but could still have given more information, then I would vote it best answer because at least they tried with their information. All these questions are kept for future reference for other users, so at least they will see an answer that has given some information and not the 'idk' answers.

So sorry to say my vote would be for keeping no best answer option.

NO, That is the only way those that vote can try to stop useless answers being chosen as best answer by the many users that use the voting as another way to cheat just to get undeserved points with their useless answers.

  • No, it's necessary. Otherwise things like IDK and "ummmm' would win more BAs than they already do.

Personally, I think that a NBA vote should earn a voting point too.
