Will thicker speaker wire make a difference in an amp getting too hot?

I have a 1000W amp, 1 12" kenwood 1000w max, and 1 10" 600W max. It bumps but my amp shuts off and on after awhile from overheating. Probably shouldn't of gone with a boss amp to begin with but.... so if i run thicker wire to both subs will it make a difference in sound quality and/or overheating? Thanks

No, thicker wire won't fix that problem.

Your amp could be shutting down for a couple of reasons. One reason is that the subs could be wired incorrectly. The can cause the amp to overheat and then go into protect mode.

You will also want to set the gain on your amp correctly and not turn up the bass boost too much.

Wires won't make a difference. you need to see what load the amp is seeing-----2 ohms or 4 ohms. sounds like you are running at 2 ohms and drawing too much. you could wire it to see 4 or 8 ohms and draw less so your amp wont shut down. do a yahoo search for series vs. parallel wiring.. and wire it according to the diagram so your amp is seeing a higher ohm rating.
