I want to dispute a charge on my credit report. what is a DV?

I'm being charged by a company called NCO Financial group, i've heard many people saying they are a scam but either way it is on my credit report. What is a DV and what do i do about fighting this

    First, if it's not your debt, dispute the item with the credit bureau. It could just be a keying error.

    If that doesn't get it removed, send the collection agency a certified, return receipt letter request validation of the debt to include copies of contracts or other documentation proving the debt is yours. Give them 30 days.

    If they fail to respond, send another dispute to the credit bureau with a copy of your validation request. Indicate that they failed to validate the debt. That should get it removed.

    If they do repsond, you should have all the proof you need to fight it out with collection agency.

    DV = Debt Validation Letter.

    NCO Financial Group is a legitimate collection agency. Of course like most collection agencies they are scum and break federal law on a daily basis.

    If the debt they are collecting for is not legitimate, you need to dispute it in writing with them. You also need to dispute it on your credit report.
