Geographically Oz is a southern country. It's also seen as Australasia, and as part of Oceania, and other countries are often lumped in with it (New Zealand, some SE Indonesian countries, etc.). Because it's so close to the left hand side of the International Date Line, you could call it "south eastern".
Politically: a federal parliamentary democracy. Its political roots are in Britain, so it could be said to be western. But it is part of several larger organizations because its closer to countries of Asia and the Pacific. Works with ASEAN and the Pacific Islands forum because of where it is. I would call it Oceanian geopolitically.
Ethnically the CIA factbook shows it as 92% white, 7% Asia, aboriginal and others, 1%. It has seen a lot of immigrants from countries that are geographically close, so expect that to change over time in favor of Asia.
The restriction on non-white immigration was abolished in 1973.

As far as I know it's geographically Eastern. Upside down,
Politically more western like England, and USA. Ethnically, I think they only allow White people into their country.

Western countries are East of Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Counties are West of Pacific Ocean International Dateline divides the west and East in Pacific. (Western country is a colloquial usage of the Asian people). Know more about Europe and Eurasia and Asia. When the Britain was the country without sunset, they started using that Europe is Western and Asia is Eastern.
