just simple
when someone gets arrested then he remains in lock up and there in police station
but he must be produced before magistrate within 24 hours
and its mandatory
and after that if police wants to take further remand then they can take it with them back to police station but by order of court
but if not allowed then to be send to jail its judicial custody where he just remain and works
and also there no threat of torture too
judicial is maximum of 14 days till gets bail

When someone is arrested by the police it is called police custody. The police has to produce the arrested in fron of a magistrate within 24 hrs. When the magistrate/judge orders you to go to jail it is called judicial custody.

When police arrests an offender, he is said to be in police custody. When he is produced before a magistrate, then he is said to be judicial custody as per his directions.

Because the One trillion dollars (yes, I said trillion, NOT billion, NOT million -- trillion, that' s one thousand billion dollars - a terabyte of dollars) of hard earned tax money that could have been spent on education is instead being pissed away into a rat hole in a desert halfway around the word. All because an egregious ought-to-be-put-in jail moron that the good American people elected has squandered a fiscal surplus left by the Clinton Administration into a trillion dollar war debt. Oh, but that's okay, Clinton got a bee jay. How evil is that? Thank god we have change now and instead have headless torsos of Iraqi people to display on the Internet instead of that disgusting Lewinski thing. I know it seems like a reach to go from crap vocabulary to a criminally insane war, but consider the cuts in domestic spending -- this idiocy began with Iraq. And if I see the word "grammar" misspelled just one more time, I'm going to toss my Oreos. Sorry, haven't had my morning coffee yet.

when the police arrest a person, he/she must be produced before court within 24 hrs. And if they are unable to complete the investigation in this 24 hours (and they require the accused or suspect to be kept away from society for the protection of society, or of the accused or for the purpose of ensuring his availability for investigation), they may convey so tothe magistrate, who may allow for the suspect to be held in the custody of the police or the judiciary.
A judicial magistrate may remand a person to any form of custody extending up to 15 days and an executive magistrate may order for a period of custody extending up to seven days.
Police custody may extend only up to a period of 15 days from the date custody begins but judicial custody may extend to a period of 90 days for a crime which entails a punishment of death, life imprisonment or period of imprisonment exceeding 10 years and 60 days for all other crimes
If a person is transferred from police to judicial custody, the number of days served in police custody is deducted from the total time remanded to judicial custody.
Under police custody, the suspect may be interrogated by the police but under judicial custody, interrogation is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances. Also, police custody starts when a person is taken into custody by the police, but judicial custody starts when a judge orders for judicial custody.

Police custody means time spent in the custody of the police i.e. after arrest, before you are taken to court.
Judical custody means custody ordered by the court i.e. prison sentence or if bail has been refused by a Judge.
