Does the quality of the image on TV reduce as we split the cable?

I would like to know if the quality of the picture shown on TV reduces as we split the cable into 3 or 4 to provide cable to different rooms in a house.

The IMAGE does NOT reduce, but the RF signal level does drop with each TV you add to the Cable line....

If you have 3 or 4 TV sets connected, each TV will only get 1/3 to 1/4 the power going into ONE TV set

And sometimes, that will give you a snowy picture....So a trip to RADIO SHACK for one of their Distribution AMPs would work great in maintaining Signal Quality....

Distribution AMP ! Not a 20 db SIGNAL AMP......

There's a difference in how they operate.....

A distribution amp does not amplify...it takes the signal and creates enough power to drive 3 or 4 TV sets....

A 20 db Signal amp boosts up the signal ,but cannot provide POWER (voltage and current) to drive 3 or 4 TV sets....

It's like it takes the ONE signal line and CREATES 4 separate lines of Signal from that one line....

Good isolation and good DISTRIBUTION of power is what you get....

If you are talking about analog cable, then yes, the quality is reduced each time you split the signal. It is better to split the main cable singnal once. For example, use one 3-way splitter to split the signal to 3 different rooms. Do not use one 2-way splitter and then further down the line use another 2 way splitter.

If you are talking about digital cable, you usually will not have as much of an issue splitting the signal. Be warned, if you already have a weak signal to start with, splitting it could cause you to lose your whole signal with digital cable.

Definitely. Most cable companies will not guarantee anything past five lines for this very reason. With all the options available through the cable line, a strong signal is a must. If you also have internet and/or digital you will want to run lines directly for those services due to their needing more signal to get what you are paying for. Good luck.

Yes, at least it does in my home. You can go to Radio Shack or probably anywhere else that sells electronics and buy an amplifier. One thing I've found is that you have to be real careful when the screw the connectors into the splitter as well as the tvs. That can also affect reception. Good luck.
