Do you eat food products after it has expired?

All the food products have a best before date.....but would you consume it a day or two after it has expired?

A day or two yes, but a week or more, no. I guess it depends on the item... milk maybe, canned food yes, cheese, no, ect.

    Sure.

I refuse to believe that some super-being waltzes into my kitchen and replaces my good, wholesome milk with some malformed cheese at midnight on the expiration date.

Products do expire, but it takes time and chemical/biological action. The expiration date is just a best estimate when they think you'll have a noticeable decrease in product freshness. I've continued to have milk as far as a week after the expiration.

Some products will expire before the date listed... some well after. Anything I find after the date, I generally apply the highly scientific "sniff test".

You know the one I mean. ;)

Yes one can but the vendor will not be answerable in any action on the products.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

Yeah, I usually do. I don't think it's a big deal, unless it's obvious the food has gone bad (i.e. mold, smell). Just don't eat fish/seafood after the expiration date. That would be gross!

Milk is ok 3-4 days after the expiry date but only if you had it in the fridge.

If it passes the smell test, I'll eat it.

I have guts of steel. They can hadle some pretty gross stuff, lol.

Canned....eh...I am not so overly concerned. A month or two at the most. The other things- no way.

  • 1 decade ago

Yes, if it's already in the 'fridge (and it smells/appears safe). If it's on the store shelf, then nooooooo.

Only if it has a nice, green, slimy film on it...Mmmmm...dat's good schtuff!
