A lady's finger is a vegetable common in some Asian countries. It is generally longish, slim, light green in color, slightly bent, and has a tapering end. It is possible that this name was given as it resembled the finger of a woman (lady). This vegetable is called Okra in the USA.
This vegetable has small roundish soft seeds, and is an excellent source of fiber, aiding in smoother evacuation of stools.

It is called ladies' finger beacause it is slim, long and nice like women's fingers. In some regions, ladies' fingers is also the name of a dessert, which also ressembles women's fingers.
