any dentists out there, i'm in alot of pain here.?
i have a tooth with a cavity in it but i've been puting off going to the dentist because i'm a big baby, the idea of someone scraping my teeth....ugh!) Besides that i'm 7 months pregant and don't think they can give me numbing medication but now the tooth has been hurting for so long that the pain has settled in the bottom of my jaw and its hard for me to eat or even sleep. I'll wake up in the middle of the night with it throbbing. I use orajel and ambasol all the time but the pain has gone so deep now that its not reaching. what do u think it is and do u think it can wait til after i deliver? What can i do to relieve the pain besides the obvious rinsing with salt water, listerine, and over the counter oral meds? HELP!!!!!

Ok,this is way more serious than you think.I am a Registered Dental Assistant.I have been working for 11 years.I know what i am talking about.I am a mother of two and don't want you to hurt your anborn child. You have an infected tooth.Infection can and will get to your child. You need to see a dentist first thing in the morning.Yes,he can numb you,he can take one x-ray,and he can give you antibiotics.Nothing will hurt you more than the infection. If it makes you feel better, ask your doctor about all this before going to the dentist.Becides, the pain won't stop no matter what you do.You should always fix your teeth before getting pregnant.Don't wait, things will only get worst.

Go to health food store & buy "Acidophilus". This will combat the infection.
Clove oil will also help with the pain. Apply 1-2 drops to affected tooth with cotton swab as needed. May be diluted with olive oil, if too strong.
Goldenseal extract can be used as an oral rinse, since it is antibacterial.

You need to get to your dentist ASAP... Your tooth has gone beyond a normal easy filling and it sounds like you've got a serious infection of that tooth and that you more then likely will need a Root Canal. Yes you can recieve anesthic. You need to think about your baby this infection can seriously affect your child if it gets into your blood stream. Go to you dentist ASAP and get it taken care of and they will also give you antibiotics for the infection

Should you not eat or sleep means your baby is not being feed or receiving the proper sleep. Since the Orajel(TM) and other at this point useless products are not reaching the deep festering crater, perhaps the baby is living of them. Honey it's not you who needs help---it's the defenseless baby.
Don't post your real name or address because help will be at your front door from Child Services.

Go to a dentist as soon as you can, infact go tommorow. It is really difficult to perscribe medication to a pregnant female because there are so many factors to take into consideration, such as how each med. will affect the child. you must take care of this immediately, you need a professional Dentist.

Sounds like you have irreversible pulpitis on one or more of your teeth. Even though you are pregnant, if it is keeping you awake and keeping you from eating, they will still treat you. If it is indeed irreversible pulpitis, you are looking at either a root canal or having the tooth extracted
