Yes, the blood tests do vary at 15 mnutes and 7 hours. Best earliest BLOOD TEST indication of heart attack is now the Troponin test. This is used reliably by ER's. If the troponin is elevated the patient is admitted for further evaluation ASAP. Other cardiac enzymes can also detect cardiac damage. The time of the initial incident can be deduced by the timing of the elevation of the cardiac enzymes which rise at different rates. Another early predictor of cardiac problems is the High sensitivity CRP - and BNP as an early indicator of CHF. Other tests like EKG are also used to diagnose and treat heart patients.

The earliest the problem is detected the better because clot busting drugs may be able to limit the amount of damage if given early enough. These clot busting drugs will, however, alter the cardiac enzyme results.

    Hello there !

The answer is a definite "YES" !

Immediatelt after the heart attack, many a times, even the ECG or Blood tasts like cardiac enzymes "may" appear normal.

It takes around 4 to 6 hours for the ECG as well as the cardiac enzmes' values to change !

Thats the main reason, many cardiologists advise for tests immediately and few hours after the pain..

The tests avised usually are : ECG

and other non-specific and specific enzymes .

The cardiologist confirms heart attack based on the following records.

Medical history including symptoms, ECG, Myocardial profusion tests (Stress tests), Echocardiogram, Nuclear ventriculography, Enzymes such as creatine phosphokinase (CPK), CPK-MB, Troponin-sub units I or T (proteins involved in muscle contraction), Serum Myoglobin and Angiogram.

Please see the webpages for more details on Heart attack (Myocardial infarction)

Cardiac enzymes rise over time in damage to heart muscle.

yes, the blood level varies. Thats because u give streptokinase, that dissolves the blood clot.
