How 2 befriend my parrot? Any idea?

The most important thing is for you to gain the birds trust. It takes time. Always move slowly around your bird. Speak softly and never yell at it. Talk to it often in a friendly tone. Birds raised by their parents and not hand fed are very difficult to tame. It could take months or even years to tame a wild parrot. Hand feeding is very important when it comes to teaching a bird to trust humans. I imagine your bird is not still a baby though so there is no reason to hand feed.it. Still you should offer it treats with your hands so that it will assiciate something good with your hands.

You can only befriend a parrot by winning his/her trust. it takes time and it takes an enormous amount of patience.

You didn't say what kind of parrot or give us any background information, but I would suggest that you move slowly and sit next to the cage and simply talk softly to the bird.

Gradually, you can begin to open the door to the cage......and talk to the bird and slowly begin to put your hand into the cage, offering a special treat of some kind.

Once the bird accepts the treat from your hand, you can begin to work on getting the bird to step up on your hand and then slowly bringing the bird out of the cage.

Of course, the bird will be more co-operative if his/her wings are trimmed to prevent him/her from flying away from you.

This taming process can take weeks or months depending on the bird's age, the species and the bird's prior experience with humans.

give him lots of love and attention, parrots are VERY intelligent birds, your bird need to feel safe and loved with you, its also depends on whether or not the parrot was hand fed when you bought him, if he wasn't its going to take much more work than normal for your parrot to bond to. good luck

I have a friend who made 'toys' out of empty toilet paper cores. Her parrot loves them! He pushes them off the table and she picks them up (that's 'playing') she cuts them into smaller rings and he steps into them, the bird tosses them and she tosses them back, and they just have a high old time.

Find ways to play with your bird. Can you get him out of the cage? Will he let you pet him? Try talking distinctly and repeating the same things like 'pretty bird' they like compliments!

make sure the parrot wings are cut short,bacause when he cant fly it makes him depend on you for help.when the wings are long he knows that he can get away from you hope this helps ive had 3 parrots jackie

**Never hand feed. If a bird eats from your hand it learns to peck at your hand.

Talk to him and give him treats and be friendly to him and try smiling when talking to him maybe he or she loves the attention.

i also have the same problem, i have had him for 1 year and he wont allow us to touch him
