    How do we fix this?

    Favourite answer:

You fire him and tell him exactly why.  Make a private and public apology to your competitor, maybe even send them lunch and tell them you do not find that kind of behavior at all acceptable and that the person no longer works for you.

Not showing up to an interview ?

    Favourite answer:

When someone does not show up for a scheduled job interview, we just move on to the next person  We do not waste company time by calling other companies...competitors, associates or neither to tell them to watch out for so and so.

It is a useless and vindictive exercise that will leave you backed up on your important work to do.

A person who does not show up is a loser...and they have just saved us time by showing that before the interview.

How did we as a society get a point where people cater to and bend over backwards for companies ?

We’ve become slaves to companies and corporations to the point where people feel bad about calling off because of health issues or family emergencies and those situations are so much bigger than your job and the company you work for. Time is something that you can’t ever get back or replace. I work for a grocery store company where people in my corporate office are arrogant and think they’re something big in life like sir you work in a corporate office for a retail company, you got a degree just to work for a lame company. I’m in college because I want to be something much bigger than a retail ceo or retail manager. The management at the retail companies treat the jobs as if it’s like life or death emergency open heart surgery. My company in particular has a very high turn over rate to the point where the number of employees that quit out weighs the number of people being hired and even fired. My HR manager is begging people to apply for the jobs at the company I work for. If you have something serious like cancer you shouldn’t feel that you’re inconveniencing the company, it’s your health, it’s your life, you’re no longer an employee or manager for that company when your dead and six feet under. In fact they’ll just replace you the next day and forget about ever working for that company. What’s the grocery store management at the grocery store that got shot up in Colorado yesterday going to do about the traumatized workers who witnessed and survived the shooting?

There is a rumor that the manager won’t give raises because her bonus will be smaller, anyone heard of anything like this?

There is a rumor at my job that the reason we are paid less compared to different regions is that our manager will not give us raises because it negatively affects her bonus. Apparently this has something to do with the budget.

I am actually not sure I believe this but I asked for a raise and she seemed upset...

Has anyone heard of a practice like this?

Do some companies have a business model where they view entry level employees as just people they can replace?

Where I work, my manager has about 20 years of experience. No one else is really even close to his level of knowledge. I've seen about half of my teammates leave. I feel like my company doesn't even care really. Since it seems like the manager acts like he can just do half of the work anyway. For example, he'll resolve a bunch of issues and then not explain what he did.

I ordered three small items through amazon and theyre all coming at the same time. Are they gonna be in one box? ?

I got the prime free delivery or whatever it is for all of them and theyre arriving at the same time. Do they package everything all in one box? Or just deliver them separately?

Will Target return an item not in the original box?

I bought my mom a Cuisinart cutlery set for Christmas for $100 from Target. Less than a month later, as she was cooking dinner, the block fell completely apart and all the knives fell on the floor and almost hit her foot. The block was glued and the glue came undone. She called Target and they said to bring it to the store and they would see what they would do. Then we had a big snowstorm hit and we lost track of time. Now, our date to return is coming up (March 16).

We live in a very small town and the closest Target is over 90 minutes away. My mom, when she got the cutlery set, assumed it was brand new and nothing to worry about so she threw the box away. So my question is, is it worth driving 90 minutes to see if Target will replace it or should we just try and glue the thing back together again? I'm not sure if Target will even replace it since we have no box.

Let's say the vast majority of jobs get automated. Why not continue to pay the former employee his check? The robot doesn't pay bills?

    Favourite answer:

You have the right idea, that automation should decrease the amount that each human needs to work for the same pay, instead of only profiting the company owners.

But why do you say companies would make more money by paying for robots and electricity to run the robots while also paying the employee salaries?

And what about the next generation of humans? Paying former employees a pension is one thing, but do your descendants go on paying their descendants forever? Will grandchildren of high earners get higher pay than grandchildren of minimum wage earners?

There are three ways to deal with automation. One is to pay workers a living wage for fewer hours of work, similar to what you suggested but with some actual work still involved (though in different jobs, such as programming the robots). This would allow everybody to remain employed part time instead of fighting over the dwindling supply of full-time jobs.

Another approach is to tax the profits from automation and use that money to pay for everyone's living expenses. When the money is distributed only to the people without income, it is called welfare. When distributed equally to all citizens it is called Universal Basic Income.

And the third approach is for the former workers to own the company and thus get the profits directly. This is communism in its original form: Marx predicted that when workers were not paid enough to live on, they would seize ownership by force rather than starve.

Europe has mostly chosen the second approach. America is on track for the third.

Do you think McDonald's would make or lose money if they brought back Mac Tonight?

    Favourite answer:

I remember that, it was created in the 1990s. It was kind of creepy to me.

They may have to make a few updates. I'm not one but I know a few millennials who aren't like that.
