  • The Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954?

Despite the fact that The Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954 has clearly prescribed for the registration of every shop in Delhi and also other provisions regarding running of shops in Delhi like Wages to be given to the laborers in shops, Registration of Shops[Section 19- Time and conditions of payment of wages], Registration of Shop with Chief Inspector-[Section 5], Interval for Rest and meals [Section 10], Employment of young persons – Hours of work [Section 13] and various other provisions of like nature – In reality countless shopkeepers are violating these mandatory provisions of law on daily-basis, you walk into any shop and you will easily see small children working their for even from 8 in morning till even 10 in the night, this Act says that Certificate of Registration shall be shall be prominently displayed at the shop [in reality in how many shops do we get to see the display of this Registration Certificate]. So why are authorities [Chief Inspector] not taking any action against all these shopkeepers?

  • Rise in Sugarcane Support Price -- Is it justified?

The State Governments of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have decided to raise "Minimum Support Price" for sugarcane. This will result in rise in already high price of sugar. The Governments are thinking only about farmers [who never pay taxes as income tax] and we as tax payers are forced not only to pay Income Tax but also to pay heavily for basic essentials like Sugar. Is it Justified? -- To be answered only by the Indians only.

  • Bringing Back Inheritance Tax In India ?

Should Inheritance Tax which was abolished by the Government in 1985 be brought back in effect so as to reduce the increasing difference between the rich and poor in the country. This tax was in effect from 1953 to 1985 in India. It was a tax levied on a person who inherits money or property, or a tax on the estate (total value of the money and property), of a person who has died.
