My laptop was working fine till last month. And I kept it shut off for 10 days inside a cupboard. Now when I switch it on I hear the hard disc starting sound. Then led's glow. No display. Some forum suggested problem with battery drain. So removed battery and pressed power button for few sec and connected power source. Same problem. Tried again and then it continuously restarts without display. Only till led glow and then off again and on again. Gave it to a repair shop. He says chipset is gone due to power surge. And since no chipset available here I have to change board itself. Do you think there is any other chance.? Spending on board with a month-long warranty seems not a good option since my laptop is 3.5 years old.

I have WD my passport External hard disk 1TB. Recently it has problem.

like

1.It is detected very late(takes 4 mins)

2. Copying stops at halfway and then gives not responding message.

3. Right click to refresh also gives error (not responding)

4. Now i tried to format it using disk manager but for 10 hrs only 1% complete.

Now what might me problem with this,,.?

Can i stop formatting now..? if yes how to stop format..?

Earlier (may be a month back) once i did quick format and it worked..But now normal formatting is having problem..

I am graduate in Mech Engg and currently working for a heavy industry...I want to get myself involved in sustainable agriculture/nature conservation and wishing to have a career in same field.as such i don't have much practical knowledge on subject but i read many reports available on net..my plans are to get some practical knowledge by joining any organization working on it and if possible do a higher study in it...can anyone suggest how to go about it..? and can you give any references...?
