  • Are the Kurdish people predominantly Muslim?

Wikipedia mentions that Kurds are mostly Muslim and there are several other religious minorities, including Jews and Christians. But A Muslim student of mine from Syria (There are precious few Kurds in Syria but they ARE there) says they are not Muslim and they hold their own beliefs that are related to Islam but if you ask them if they are Muslim they would say instead that their religion was Kurdish. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

  • Why do plants produce caffeine?

Plants that are not even closely related produce the same chemical- why is that? And what is its adaptive significance? It's not a toxin, and it doesn't seem like other animals besides humans are drawn to it.

  • Where does the story of Lucifer's uprising come from?

    Rev 12:7-9 has three lines:

“And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” NIV

That's not much of a story. Where is the rest of it found?

  • Why is the flag of Wales not incorporated into the Union Jack like the flags of England, Scotland and Ireland?

The flag of the UK has three flags superimposed upon each other- the Cross of St. George, The cross of St. Andrew and the Cross of St. Patrick. So why isn't the Welsh flag on there in some form, since it is one of the nations within the United Kingdom?
