  • Should I tell my sister her 18 yr old son is gay and...?

My nephew whom I always suspected was gay at a very early age came out to my niece. My niece then told me. If that was the whole story, I would not be asking this question. My concern is the age of my nephews boyfriend. He is 24. Also, very importantly, my nephew has been very sheltered socially. That is, he has never ever had a relationship sexually or even more, not even a kiss. It worries me that my nephew will be too quickly and naively exposed to a lifestyle and make some decisions that could agffect his health, stds. Should I just keep quiet.

  • 2 mos. Postpartum back and joint pain, chills, etc?

I am two 7 and half weeks postpartum with my 3rd child (all 3 were c-sections). I also had a tubal ligation. I am currently breastfeeding.

This past Friday up until today, I have been experience flu-like chills and body ache but I have no fever. Also, my leg joints and back are hurting. My breasts are tender too.

I know these symptoms are normal postpartum but are they normal almost 8 weeks postpartum? Anyone experience similar symptoms? Is it the tubal ligation? My age - 39?

My recovery for the previous two were without any of the above. I am trying to figure it out. BTW, I have an annual doctors appt next Friday and I check out fine at my 5 weeks postpartum appt.

    Any insight is appreciated.

  • CoSleeping Moms - Nap question?

This question is for Moms who co-sleep or have co-slept with their babies in the same bed.

What do you do for naps? That is, do the babies sleep in the crib? Did they have any trouble adjusting?

I have 2 sons. A 2 yr old and a 7 month old. I co-sleep with the 7 month old. I don't mind this at all. The trouble is he only naps in my arms. Every time I try to lay him on the crib he wakes up and starts to cry and then wail!

I cannot co-sleep with him as I have another child. I have tried delaying lying him down (20-30 minutes) to make sure he is in deep slumber. I have tried to lay him down on my bed (keeping with every safety precautions). He still wakes up. I used to be able to put him down on our bed for about 30 minutes but he no longer allows me to do this - he wakes up in hysterics as soon as I lay him down.

He has no medical condition or reflux.

I have read Weissbluth's book and although it provides good insight into sleep, it hasn't slept much. I have in order Elizabeth's book (it will arrive next week).

I am at my wit's end. He is getting way too big for me to hold him and it is affecting how I treat my older child during the younger's one nap time (that is, I want him to be quiet, etc.)

    Please help with advice.

  • co-sleeping moms who breastfeed?

This question is for who cosleep with their babies in the same bed and breastfeed in bed.

    (1) does your hubby sleep in the bed with you and if so, what are the sleeping arrangements?

    (2) how many times a night do you breastfeed and do you feed laying down or sit up?

I am asking b/c I cosleep with 5 month old and there is no room for hubby in bed. I feed laying down and this is what is causing the lack of room. I switch sides (i.e. roll to the other side of sleeping baby) and it would get crowded on one side with hubby.

  • infant and solids timeline?

I know it is recommended to exclusively BF for 6 months which is what I am planning. But how long can a baby go without solids? That is when are solids actually necessary to sustain good health?

  • Vaccine and rash and impetigo?

Question. Has your child ever experienced any rash or recurrence of an infection after a vaccine? My son has been battling both impetigo and a diaper rash the past few weeks. A week before the vaccine, he was all rid of the impetigo and only has a slight redness on his rear. Well, this past Wednesday, he had his 4 month vaccines. On Wed night, his impetigo flared up and now it is on half of his face. Also, this morning he has red little bumps on his rear.

Coincidence? I called his dermatologist and he is out of town and the nurse at the peds said the vaccines have nothing to do with. But I am thinking maybe the vaccines temporarily suppressed his immune system and triggered the impetigo.

  • 3 month old has a bad case of eczema impetigo?

Help! For the past two weeks, my 3 month old has been battling a BAD case of eczema impetigo on the face. It is literally all over his face. We have been to the pediatrician and dermatologist. Does anyone have any suggestions that work on the impetigo. Since Thursday, we have been using Centany and it is not working. He is scratching all over. I put mitts on and swaddle but all he does is cry and does not get any sleep b/c of it. I am at my wits end b/c nothing seems to get rid of it.

  • Breastfeeding, sleep, cosleeping and burping?

This question are for Moms who breastfeed and cosleep. My son and I cosleep on my huge king size bed. At night when I breastfeed him, I do it lying down. This is very convenient and it works for us. For those of you who do the same, do you sit up to burp him or just fall back to sleep? I am afraid to wake him back up.

  • breastfed 2 month old feeding and sleeping frequency?

My 2nd son is exclusively breastfed (so my experience with my 1st son is unreliable). He is 2 months this Wednesday. He still eats every 1.5hrs to 2 hours all day. This means I am feeding him 10-12 times per day. I keep reading the literature that states 6-8 is what is considered normal. What are your experiences? Trust me, I know all babies are different. I just want to know your experience.

Also, with breastfed babies, when do they start sleeping through the night for 6 hour stretches?

    Thanks!

  • Newborn sleeping ... can't remember?

My son just turned 6 weeks and I am a little worried as he is rarely awake. I have a 2 year old and I don't remember him sleeping like my newborn. Anyway, he is up for a total of 4 hours - I think less even. During the day he takes 4 to 5 hour long naps. Now, during these naps, he will briefly get up to eat (I breastfeed) but even then he is sleep-eating. At night, he is sleeping also, only to get up for feedings. At 6 weeks, is this normal? I know all babies are different but dear goodness he sleeps all the time. I would like to know what other 6 week olds are doing.

  • breastfeeding and feeling bad?

I have two sons - a newly turned 2 year old and a one month old. I am (constantly) breastfeeding the baby and I feel bad that I have no "quality" time with my 2 year old. Has anyone else gone through this who has multiple kids so close in age? How did you cope? I am a SAHM and I feel bad that my 2 year old is cooped up at home with me all day while I just sit and breastfeed. I feed on demand and it literally feels like this is all that I do. I don't plan to give up BF. I am just wondering how other parents coped.

  • For moms who breastfed on demand?

It has been 1 week since my baby has been born. I am breastfeeding on demand. Has anyone who fed on demand feel like they were literally breastfeeding ALL THE TIME or is it just me? I have been logging the feedings and it's to a point where there are only 15-45 minute breaks *most* of the time. There are two 3-hour breaks. One in the afternoon and one in the evening. There is also a 5 one in the middle of night. It just seems like he is a "cluster" feeder. He eats for 3 hours and sleeps for 3 hours...

  • Was anyone else made to feel like an addict?

Just a question for c-section mommies. I got a c-section this past Thursday. I was released (at my request) Saturday afternoon. I was prescribed Hydrocodone for pain. When Monday AM (around 4:00am) rolled around I noticed that I had only 2 more pills left!!! They only gave me a 48 hour supply. So I called the ob/gyn and asked for a refill as I was still in pain! Anyway, again, only a 48 hour supply. So I called yesterday...they gave me the 3rd degree of questions. They had to call and get back to me three times. HELLO, it hadn't even been a week since my c-section. Anyone else made to feel like this? With my 1st c-section, I was given a 2 week supply. I remember this b/c I never finished them and was feeling fine before my 2 week followup check up. This was a different hospital and state.
