  • Can Starbucks Make Me Buy An Expensive Hat?

    My partner just got a job at a ‘Reserve Starbucks,’ which has a different dress code than a regular Starbucks. Part of this means she has to wear a hat. But she is not allowed to wear the typical Starbucks baseball cap or visor— she is required to wear a fedora, newsboy cap, or something similarly 1940s-business-chic. 

    But these kind of hats are expensive?? If she doesn’t own the kind of hat required, can they make her buy one? Shouldn’t they provide it to her if she has to wear it? For context, this is NYC.

    What is this patch of dry, red skin on my face?

    I'm a 20 year old girl and I've had mostly good skin my whole life (I never had any real acne phase; I only ever had small-one of zits and even those were rare. My skin's always been a bit dry, but not to the extent that it's caused problems.)

    But for the last month or so I've had this spot on my face that is a red, irritated patch of skin with small, dry bumps next to my nose. It's pretty dry (which becomes really obvious if I try to cover it with makeup) and sometimes even flaky.

    I've tried leaving it alone, but it wouldn't go away by itself. I've tried cleansing face masks, but that only dries it out more and makes it worse. I've tried moisturizing it a lot, which helps with the dryness a little bit, but doesn't solve the problem. It's hard to find a definitive answer on the internet for such a vague problem, so I come here asking for help. What is this?

  • Jealous of a celebrity crush?

    Now, I know this may sound silly, but hear me out; the girl I'm involved with has a celebrity crush on one of the guys from One Direction. Normally stuff like this doesn't bother me, but the other day she broke down and cried for an hour because she saw a picture of him with a girl and realized that she would never marry him..... Is this.. Weird? Is it normal I'm jealous of this?
