  • Combining Ibuprofen and Benicar (Olmesartan) temporarily?

So my father just recently injured his back. He currently takes Benicar for high blood pressure and I've heard there can be interactions. But it sounds like as long as he only uses it for this incident it should be ok. Is this true? He also takes Clonazepam for sleep.

  • Is it possible to watch HD content without latency or buffering issues through Chrome Remote Desktop if you have strong wifi?

I have a desktop computer and I want to use SOLELY my home network through NOTHING but wifi to connect to it via chrome remote desktop or teamviewer on my laptop. If I have a solid wifi connection over Wireless A-C will there be any issues trying to watch hd content? The CPU and Graphics card on the desktop are very powerful but the same cannot be said about the laptop. Has anyone tried this? Thanks

  • OS X Mavericks gets slower as the day progresses?

So I am currently running an early 2011 Macbook Pro with the latest version of OSX Mavericks installed on it. The OS generally works fine but tends to get slower and slower as time goes by throughout the day. To answer this problem I reboot the system once a day. This seems to work but, depending on the amount of use, it still gets slow by night time with light use. It's much worse, however, if I have used a program with heavy resource use like iTunes or Handbrake. Even after I quit the app causing the problem the slowness lingers as if the app is still running. I have already tried the following.

I have checked activity monitor and there are no resource hogging processes

I have checked RAM and "memory pressure" is low and green.

I have quit as many apps as possible including any potential resource hogs.

My desktop is immaculately clean with only 8 icons.

I clean installed Mavericks about 3 months ago so the upgrade process didn't cause the problem either.

My Hard drive is only 1/3 full.

  • Is a Bachelor's in Information Technology worth it?

So I've been considering getting a bachelor's in information technology from a University. I'm currently enrolled in my local University in Florida. I can move throughout the state if need be though I can't afford to move outside. Is a full bachelor' in information technology worth anything or do I need a bachelor's in computer science to do anything worthwhile in this field? I'm hoping (perhaps too optimistically) that I can make somewhere in the ballpark of $75,000 or more at some point in my life, though I don't expect that to be my starting salary by any means.

  • Will Windows bootcamp endanger my mac?

So if I run Windows 7 through bootcamp on my mac, and I get some malware on the windows partition like a virus, worm, or spyware, could it somehow leak into and at the very least corrupt the mac side? Or are they completely separated and untouchable to eachother?

  • mosquito nets for head while sleeping?

So I live in a house that generally doesn't have a mosquito problem. But in the summer months those voracious hell spawn inevitably find my room and turn sleeping into mission impossible. Are there any nets that can cover just my head and shoulders while I sleep? I don't want to have to hang an entire netting for my whole bed since my body is generally covered by my blankets anyway and this isn't a consistent problem. But a nice net that I could pull out and set over myself quickly would be nice. Alternatively are there any good bed nets that don't have to be hung with nails?

  • Tiny chlorine dispensers?

So there is a small indent in my backyard that forms a pond that I can't get rid of. ABout 13 inches wide and 8 inches deep. I want to cut mosquito dunks into small nuggets and place them inside using a dispenser to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in there but there's nothing I can find in the market that looks like this. The reason for this is because there is an opening where a dunk would slip out during rain (they float). Does anybody know where I might be able to find something like this?

2 inches or so in length or width but as long as it's cheap and fits is good.

I'm also open to alternative options

  • Can a DVD play 1080p material off a blu ray player?

So let's say I burned a 1080p HD mkv video of about 3.4 gigabytes to a DVD-R that can hold 4.7 gigabytes. If I tried to play that DVD on a blu ray player would it retain its quality or would it automatically be lowered to 480p for some reason?

  • If not NSA surveillance...then what?

So I hear a lot of people talking about the NSA these days. Most of them are outraged citizens claiming the government is slowly becoming some form of dictatorship and that they should put a stop to it immediately. That's fine and dandy but...then what? Do we just trust that all of America's enemies (al Qaeda being just one of them) won't take advantage of that? There's been a lot of potential terrorists attacks that have mysteriously evaporated before they ever had a chance to occur in the past 10 years. Obviously something is working even if the NSA doesn't say so. But anyway if we were to, as they say, remove the NSA, then what is the alternative?

  • Kindle Fire HDX vs Ipad for a technologically challenged person?

So my mom is a technologically challenged individual. That being said she wants a tablet for christmas and I can't decide. She basically needs it because she wants to be able to look stuff up on the internet and check her emails and stuff. But she has an older iphone and understands the functions...kind of. But she likes reading and I'm trying to get her to embrace more forms of entertainment because she's a workaholic, though I doubt she would ever get into gaming. The tablet seems way too complicated for her and not user friendly enough and again...it seems like it might be a waste of money. So what do you think?

  • Proton vs Neutron ejection in Spallation?

So when high energy protons (like cosmic rays) of sufficient energy hit the nucleus of an atom it can cause some of the nucleons to fly off. But spallation is usually used in reference to neutron ejection but not proton ejection. But high energy protons can also cause protons within the nucleus to fly off though that is usually implicated in reference to cosmic rays.

So is the type of nucleon that flies off the nucleus a function of the energy of the cosmic ray? Or is it an uncontrollable outcome like half life?

  • How can I gain noticeable muscle tone?

So in short I'm a 21 year old guy and 140 pounds. Believe it or not I eat A LOT and if I didn't I'd naturally be 130 lbs so the extra 10 is probably just fat. In any case as much as I hate to admit it I look excessively thin, bony, and what little mass I do have actually jiggles. What can I do to both get rid of that and gain muscle tone? I've tried exercising for months on multiple occasions throughout my life and never seen any results. I feel like I must be doing something wrong. I've also tried reading up on it but every website I go to goes on a tirade that tells me to change my entire lifestyle and I tune out real fast. So what kinds of exercise should I be doing? I'm not looking for a miraculous change or to look like Bruce Lee in a few months time or anything like that. I just want some kind of confirmation that my effort isn't going to waste.

  • Would it be possible for ducted fans to propel an airplane as fast as a jet engine?

ASSUMING THE POWER SOURCE IS ALREADY A NON-ISSUE!!! Can ducted fans (a fan powered by an electric motor) accelerate an airplane or jet to velocities rivaling those of turbofans or would there still be an issue that jet engines compensate for?

  • Plasma vs LCD for me specifically?

So I'm in the market for a new TV but I'm kind of at a loss as to which I should buy. My budget is under $1000 but I'd like something around the ballpark of 42 to 50 inches. Here's a list of the most important things this TV should do in order of priority from most important to least

1 First of all I love movies so I'm also going to be getting a blu ray player soon. I've heard plasma is better for this but there's dissenting opinion. Also plasmas let me buy bigger for less so that's a huge plus right there.

2 I also do quite a bit of gaming and there's that whole thing about burn in for plasmas (though they are action based so it seems kinda unlikely).

3 But the worst thing is that I sometimes use the TV alot during the day. There's a window right behind where I sit and would prefer not to deal with really annoying reflections.

  • Do virtual particles violate conservation of energy?

So I've heard a lot about how virtual particle pairs of matter and antimatter can and are often created from nothing. These particles proceed to annihilate each other. My problem with this is that matter/antimatter annihilation does not ultimately "destroy" mass but rather converts it all to energy. Therefore in normal equal parts matter/antimatter annihilation all the mass is converted to energy. If this is the case why don't virtual particles ultimately result in the creation of extra energy in the universe over time? If they are borrowing energy where is the energy coming from? Some other random location in the universe?

  • Why is Hawking Radiation supposedly constant?

So of the little I understand Hawking Radiation solves the problems black holes create associated with the violation of the laws of thermodynamics. According to the idea is that vacuum fluctuations produced at the event horizon of a black holes are prevented from annihilating each other by the intense gravitational pull. One positive mass comes out and one negative mass goes in thus annihilating some of the mass inside the black hole (At least that's how I understood it). So if that's the case then why should the positive mass always come out? If these vacuum fluctuations are supposedly random then why wouldn't it happen that sometimes the positive mass goes in and the negative mass come out?

  • My best friend is so obviously in love with me...what do I do?

So here's the deal. My best friend for a very long time once told me that she was in love with me but I turned her down as gently as I good. Our friendship got weird and then after awhile she told me that she was totally over it. I didn't believe it at first and I could tell she was very hurt but she did eventually stop acting "weird" for lack of a better word. It has been years now and we stopped talking for awhile. Recently we started communicating again and...I can tell she wants me again. She won't admit it but she's giving me the old signs. I still want to be friends with her, she gets me better than anyone, but I can tell that I'm slowly hurting her. This is going to end in her getting hurt very badly because as much as I wish I could I don't have those kinds of feelings for her. What would be the best thing to do here? Just cut her off or approach her about it? Alternative options acceptable too...
