Chemistry1 decade agoA diffrent interpretation of 'the third level' by Jack Finney ?
We have this story 'the third level' by Jack Finney in our english syllabus (CBSE XII)
Our teacher has told us that everything is imaginary. 'Charley imagines the third level and goes there in his fantasy. Even Sam is a fragment of Charley's imagination. Charley's stamp collection, letter from Sam, the people on 3rd level with sideburns, the old currency, everthing is Charley's imagination. Charley used to imagine all this stuff because his life was stressed and his mind was preoccupied, so in order to escape his overburdened life, he used to imagine that he's in the Utopian world of Galesburg in 19th cen'
But i feel that;
Charley used to actually go there on the third level somehow.
Like its there in Harry Potter, when all the wizards and witches entered platform 9 3/4 and the other people couldn't, similary, Charley could go on the third level and the others couldn't.
And when he used to tell his wife and his psychiatrist, Sam about how the third level is like, they used to think that he's stressed so he's imagining such stuff.
But later, somehow Sam also while wandering went to the third level and sent a letter to Charley stating that he is in Galesburg in the 19th century. And he came back to take old currency and went there back again. And so, Charley's wife also came into believing that the third level exists and they're looking for it.
Why isn't my interpretation correct?
My teacher says that i'm thinking out of the track, but acc to me, my teacher is thinking out of the track. Please help!
Please tell me which one is correct?
(I would appreciate if you support my interpretation :p )

1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoSome doubt regarding the integration of 1/x dx ?!?
Ok, the integration of x^n is x^n+1 / n+1
so, according to this, the integration of 1/x should be infinity,
i.e. x^-1 dx
=> x^-1+1 / -1+1
=> x^0 /0
=> infinity !
why isn't it done this way? :(

Well, the valency is 4, so, like both the atoms will be having 4 valence electrons which they can share . So, why doesn't carbon have 4 bonds ?
