  • [Grade 12] electric forces?

"Four charged spheres, with equal charges of 2.20 Cb are situated at the four corners of a rectangle with a length of 0.4 meters and a width of 0.3 meters. what is the net electrostatic force on the charge in the top right corner?"

According to the book, the answer is '7.17*10^11 Newtons 55.0 degrees' I don't know how to add the vectors properly to get that. I can get the effect from the charge below and to the left, but I don't know how to do the charge diagonally down and how to add it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • [Grade 12 Electric Fields] How can I solve for acceleration here?

'What is the initial acceleration on an alpha particle when it is placed at a point in space where the electric field strength is 7.60*10^4 N/C?"

According to the book, the answer is 3.66*10^12 m/s^2, but I don't understand how to reach that answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • [Grade 12 Physics] How can I calculate the net electrostatic force on this sphere?

"A small metal sphere X with a negative charge of -2.50 C is 1.20 cm directly to the left of another sphere Y with a charge of +3.00 C. A third sphere Z with a charge of +4.00 C is 1.20 cm directly below sphere Y. The three spheres are at the vertices of a right angle triangle, with sphere Y at the right angle. Calculate the net elctrostatic force on sphere Y sketching diagrams if necessary."

I sketched a diagram but found out that I don t understand how to solve for this, I did the 2D collisions unit before and I understood the 2D dimensions vectors etc. but for some reason this isn t quite clicking with me. According to the answers, the solution is 8.83*10^14 N at 122 degrees, but I don t know how to get there.

  • [Grade 12 ~ Momentum] How is acceleration calculated for in this question?

'Thor throws his 45 kg hammer at the Incredible Hulk at 75 m/s. The Hulk catches the hammer and manages to stop it over a distance of 0.80 m.

    A) determine the acceleration of the hammer as the Hulk stops it.

  • [Grade 12 physics momentum] How can I determine the speed at which the car entered the intersection?

    The question reads:

'In a certain road accident a car of mass 2.0*10^3 kg, travelling south, collided in the middle of an intersection with a truck of mass 6.0*10^3 kg, travelling west. The vehicles locked together and slid freely (with neglibible friction) off the road along a line point south west. The truck entered the intersection going 8.9 m/s.

    A) determine the speed at which the car entered the intersection'

I drew a vector diagram and wrote down all the information, but I feel like I don't have enough. Could somebody guide me through this?

  • [Grade 12 Physics - Momentum] How can I calculate the force of friction in this scenario?

'A lunch box is sliding across the floor at 4.3 m/s. 1.3 s later, it is going 2.1 m/s

    a) calculate the change in momentum

    b) calculate the force of friction

    c) calculate mu, the coefficent of friction.'

I've already found the change in momentum to be ~0.9 N/s, but I don't remember how to find friction and the coefficent of friction. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :)

  • [Grade 11] Could I get some help with this easy titration question?

'A student used 0.118mol/L H2(SO4) to titrate 10.00ml of Na(OH). The initial volume reading of the burette was 1.05ml The final volume reading on the burette was 23.00ml What is the concentration of the Na(OH), according to this data?'

The back of the sheet says the answer is 0.518. I would really appreciate somebody to walk me through this question.
