  • Are you liable for watching a customer's child?

A friend of mine and I both work in the same industry, but in different facilities in Ohio. In both our jobs, customers cannot bring children into the "back" area of the shop for both safety and federal regulatory reasons. At my workplace, we will not watch a customer's child; my friend will offer to watch a customer's children at his place of business.

I'm afraid that my friend is opening himself and his employer up to be liable if the child gets hurt or behaves inappropriately. I'm also concerned that some regulator will consider that to be running a daycare without a license or something like that. My friend thinks I'm a worrywart. :)

Can you give any advice or guidance? Am I worrying overmuch, or is my friend really setting himself up for real problems down the road?

  • Why do students cut and paste their sociology homework here?

I mean, I don't mind explaining a topic, or helping someone who is confused. But really, why do students keep posting multiple choice and true/false questions thinking they're going to get an answer?

And why isn't that against the "community guidelines"?
